Fall 2018 edition of the e-IRG Magazine available

The e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) has published a new edition of the e-IRG Magazine. This Fall edition of the new e-IRG Magazine is now available for download.

Highlights include summaries of the e-IRG Delegates Meetings and the e-IRG Workshop which all took place in Sofia, Bulgaria; a report from the third Digital Infrastructures for Research (DI4R) Conference in Lisbon, Portugal; a summary of ESFRI's 5th Strategy Report & Roadmap 2018 launch in Vienna, Austria; a visual report from the PLAN-E Workshop at the 14th IEEE Conference on eScience in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; an overview of the National Nodes as the foundation for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC); and an overview of the Knowledge Base.

This e-IRG Magazine edition also contains interviews with Augusto Burgueño-Arjona, Head of the e- Infrastructures and Science Cloud Unit in DG Connect at the European Commission, providing an update of the European Open Science Cloud's status; with e-IRG delegate Simon McIntosh-Smith, a professor of high-performance computing at the University of Bristol about the first ARM-based supercomputer; with Ognjen Prnjat, Vi-SEEM project coordinator on Vi-SEEM as mini-EOSC; with Ivan Dimov, Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Education and Science on EuroHPC and e-Infrastructures; with Peter Bauer, Deputy Director of Research at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) on the "Extreme Earth" Flagship Initiative; with Michael Resch, Chairman of the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing on German HPC and EuroHPC; and with Thomas Lippert, Chair of PRACE and Director of the Jülich Supercomputing Centre on modular way of thinking for supercomputing technology and HPC policy.
