The Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, in partnership with the European Commission, will host the 2018 Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU Flagship conference "Research Infrastructures beyond 2020 - sustainable and effective ecosystem for science and society". On 22-23 March 2018, the event will gather around 300 participants and more than 30 high-level speakers to Sofia Tech Park, the innovation and digital hub of Bulgaria's capital.
The conference will be a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the urgent need to explore and discuss a concrete set of actions to foster sustainability and impact of European research infrastructures (RIs) on industry, policy and society. The outcome of this high-level event will be a European Call for Action on Long-term Sustainability of Research Infrastructures to provide the impetus for full realisation of the potential of the European Research Area and further boost of broad-based R&I. Discussions will also focus on the 'ecosystem' in and around the European Research Infrastructures making them important knowledge hubs, training highly skilled human capital.
The programme is structured in 3 main pillars focused on the synchronisation of RI policies including, national road mapping, investment coordination, co-funding mechanisms and transnational access schemes; Exploring synergies between the different EU funding sources. The third pillar will be devoted on RIs as hubs of innovation, exploring opportunities for enhanced collaboration with industry.
The Ministry of Education and Science will provide opportunities for exhibitors all over Europe to present current trends and achievements of different Pan-European Research Infrastructures, opening the possibility to newly established RIs to share their capacities and opportunities within the two days exhibition too.
The online registration will open soon. More information will be available at the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union website.
