On December 1, 2016 the new e-IRGSP5 project, the follow-up project of e-IRGSP4, was launched to continue the support for the e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG). The nine partners in the project consortium held their kick-off meeting December 12-13, 2016. The meeting was hosted by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, one of the e-IRGSP5 partners. The e-IRGSP5 project will run for 24 months and is coordinated by Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) in Germany.
The main tasks for the e-IRGSP5 partners will be the operation of the secretariat that will be involved with the organisation of events and will provide administrative support to the e-IRG Chair and Executive Board. e-IRGSP5 will also deliver editorial support during the preparation of policy documents, give input to the European Commission and support the e-IRG working groups and task forces.
Furthermore, the partners will continue and take up liaison with e-IRG's various stakeholders and maintain e-IRG's social media channels. They will communicate all output by e-IRG and operate the external and internal e-IRG web presence.
One of the most important aspects of e-IRG is the follow-up with regard to the development of European e-Infrastructures. Therefore, policy information to enable assessment of these e-Infrastructures will be collected and aggregated.
