The e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) has published a new edition of the e-IRG Magazine. The Fall edition is now available for download.
Highlights include summaries of the e-IRG Delegates Meetings under the Croatian EU Presidency and under the German Presidency which both took place online, and of the e-IRG Open Workshop at Helsinki, Finland and the e-IRG Open Workshop under Croatian Presidency, which was a virtual event online.
The magazine provides an overview of the European Commission's initiatives with regard to the support of the transformative impact of research infrastructures on European research and concerning the Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE), as well as an overview of the recent developments with regard to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). In addition, there is an item on two European approaches for modelling and mapping the COVID-19 pandemic.
This e-IRG Magazine edition also contains interviews with e-IRG Chair Paolo Budroni about the recent developments within e-IRG; with former e-IRG Delegate Erik Fledderus about the building of European e-Infrastructure partnerships out of national partnership models; with Mark Parsons, Director of the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC), about the Edinburgh International Data Facility (EIDF); with the newly appointed EuroHPC Director Anders Jensen; with Bastian Koller from the High-Performance Computing Center in Stuttgart (HLRS), Germany about three new EuroHPC projects, namely EuroCC, CASTIEL, and Fortissimo for EuroHPC; with Didem Unat, project coordinator of the new SparCity project; and with Venkatesh Kannan from the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) about the Irish EuroCC activities and quantum computing ambitions.
